My Secret Sauce
The five ways that make me unique are:
1. I grew up on a farm and had to do chores ( hard chores) from a very early age on the small farm at the house. At age 8, I started working on the large farm on the hill. Daily work included moving sprinklers, hauling hay, milking cows. I really appreciated my parents instilling this work ethic into me that keeps driving me today.
2. I will do whatever it takes to complete an assignment or task that I have set my mind too.
3. I have always been able to do my best at an task/job that has been my responsibility yo complete.
4. I have learned to remain calm in a crisis and think clearly when under pressure.
5. I believe that I am a good person and treat all others as equals and fairly.
Interviews:
This person has known me most of my life and sees that I do what I say I will do. She looks up to me and knows that I am dependable and trustworthy. She also appreciates that I take an interest in her children's lives.
This person also looks up to my persistence to do what I set my mind too. She feels that I am accomplishing a lot at an older age. She is happy for me and wishes me luck.
This person (though he talks to me as a third person) see that I set goals and do whatever it takes to reach that goal. He also appreciates that I do what I say I will do. And he finds me dependable and trustworthy.
This is my 82-year-old stepmother. I find this quite funny. Had to include it.
This is my niece. Did not have much to say other than she is proud that I am in school and trying to improve my life. She looks up to me, which I like.
This person sees that I work hard for what I want. Again, is proud that I have returned to school to improve my life. He looks up to me as well.
I have the advantage of more years that most and am very cognitive of myself and my attributes. (human capital) All the people I interviewed see me as I see myself. This is because I live my life externally as I am inwardly. I mirror my soul.
Hi Dallin,
ReplyDeleteGreat job on this assignment! It seems that how you view yourself is pretty consistent with how others view you as well. That is always such a great feeling and provides concrete confirmation. I admire your determination to complete your set goals, as well as your ability to treat others fairly. Dallin, I think you did an excellent job and it sounds like you really know your strengths! Your dependability, persistence, and responsibility are great attributes that will help you implement your business plan and just generally succeed. It also sounds like you have a lot of support in your life. I didn’t do this assignment, but besides the farm experience, it sounds like a lot of our skills are similar. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteHi there Dallin!
ReplyDeleteI think you did a really great job on this assignment. You have clearly done some thorough introspective work here, as well as taking in what others have said about your character as well. I really enjoyed reading about your human capital qualities, specifically I found your first point very interesting since I've never had an experience like that and I am sure it contributes greatly to a solid work ethic. Overall great job. Here's the link to my blog if you want to check it out: http://lbritthoff.blogspot.com/2016/03/my-secret-sauce.html
I totally agree that being older and possibly wiser helps with the college experience. I started college when I was 18, but withdrew because I wasn’t ready and I knew I wasn’t taking it seriously. I started back again at 30 and in the last five years have gotten two Associate’s degrees and am working on my Bachelor’s. My GPA is solid and I’m learning new things daily. That never would have happened when I was younger.
ReplyDeleteThere are definitely younger students who can handle college at 18, but I think it’s important to do it when you’re ready, when it will be most beneficial. For me, that was later.
Hey Dallin, I think that there was definitely a consistent theme of being very dedicated and trustworthy. These are extremely important qualities to have, in any situation, and I commend you for that. Also, having people close to you tell describe you so similarly means that you are very genuine, and I respect that a lot.
