Increasing home prices are making almost impossible for first-time home buyers and low-income families to purchase a house. The rising prices are also an indication of exactly what caused the last recession, one of the longest and greatest recessions in history.

Climate change could cost jobs in South Florida, says White House adviser
http://infoweb.newsbank.com.lp.hscl.ufl.edu/resources/doc/nb/news/15A83B09F3219D68?p=AWNB
Global warming could have a devastating effect on the local Miami tourism sector. As sea levels rise the beaches are starting to erode as well as the water level would start to undermine buildings with devastating effects. All of this is a cause of future unemployment of 1000’s of workers who depend on the tourism to stay employed.
Rising sea levels would stifle tourism.

  2. Nice work! I really liked that you picked "opportunities" that cover all aspects of society. You have some about traffic, some about low income housing, and some about the environment. I think it is a really good idea to look at the big picture when we are doing assignments like this.
    Overall, great job!

  3. Dallin,

Great job on this post! I like how you selected articles that are very relevant to today's society. Seems like there is a lot of room for opportunity in each of those articles.

  4. Dallin,

You have some great articles here! I found the climate change one very interesting. Most people know that climate change exists and that it causes sea levels to rise. I was aware of the fact that Florida will lose land area due to rising sea levels; however, I neglected to take into account how Miami is a tourist town and when sea levels rise, jobs will disappear. The only thing I recommend you to do when writing a post is give more detail; instead of saying 'Employed and unemployed people', say that they are the ones affected by climate change in Miami. As a class, we understand what you mean, but a random viewer will not. If you get a chance to read my blog post, you can find it at http://innovationnation101.blogspot.com/2016/01/identifying-local-opportunities.html.
